Don't Be Ridiculous

When I was in grad school, Bronson Pinchot came to the Globe to do a show. About a week after his arrival, a stage manager pulled a group of us aside. His voice got very quiet and deadly serious as he said:

"You guys, do NOT call him Balki."

Was it ok to call him Serge?

Seriously, his name isn't Balki?

Was he nice, anyway?

I think I accidentally watched the first episode of VH1's Surreal Life (I am not responsible for what I watch when the remote is missing.) I think this exact topic came up and he reacted more vociferously than when Gary Coleman refused to say "whachutalkinaboutwillis."

The impression I got was that he still thinks that the ladies are all about The Bronson. Confirm or deny.

Well, there was that one time that he winked at me in the hallway . . .

And he played a woman in the show (2 man show where said men play multiple roles).

However, there were no major playa rumors. On the other hand, when Billy Campbell was there playing Benedick . . .

It's 'Balki Bartokamous', for that next Trivial Pursuit game.
